About Central Board of Revenue (Introducation)

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) was established on April 1, 1924. In 1944, it became part of the Ministry of Finance. After Pakistan’s independence, CBR remained under the Ministry of Finance until August 31, 1960, when it became an attached department. In 1974, the role of Chairman FBR was created. In 1991, CBR regained its status as a Revenue Division, which was briefly abolished in 1995 but restored in 1998. Today, FBR continues to function as a Revenue Division under the Ministry of Finance.
